U.S. Copper Plate Prices 2025, Size, Trend, Graph, Chart and Forecast
The U.S. copper plate market experienced a 4% increase, driven by strong demand and supply-side factors. Prices remained largely stable, fluctuating due to domestic and international market influences. Early in the quarter, increased U.S. copper imports and concerns over reduced production at the Bingham Canyon mine supported price stability.
Globally, China’s economic recovery spurred demand, while resilient supply chains helped maintain balance. In the U.S., demand surged in the electrical and automotive sectors, particularly in air conditioning, which saw a notable rise in exports. The automotive industry also performed well, further driving copper plate consumption. However, by the quarter’s end, high mortgage rates and economic uncertainty slowed construction sector growth, dampening demand from that segment.
Despite these challenges, strong industrial demand supported a positive price trend, with U.S. copper plate prices closing at USD 14,180/MT.

Copper plate prices in Europe rose by 6% in Q4 2024, driven by stable manufacturing output and robust restocking activities. The electronics sector rebounded following prior declines, aided by favorable cost conditions and high temperatures encouraging regional restocking efforts. While supply remained stable, supported by increased global smelting activity and higher Chilean copper production, logistical disruptions—such as those along the Moselle River—caused localized issues.
Germany saw mixed demand trends. The electronics sector rebounded, and automotive sales showed modest growth, but battery-electric vehicle registrations declined year-over-year, reflecting shifting industry dynamics. Construction remained weak due to high borrowing costs and economic uncertainties, although renewable energy initiatives helped temporarily lower electricity costs for copper producers. Policy changes, including reduced solar subsidies, could impact future copper demand. By the quarter’s end, copper plate prices in Germany stood at USD 14,881/MT FOB Hamburg, reflecting stable market conditions despite ongoing sector-specific challenges.
The APAC copper plate market showed a 2.1% quarter-over-quarter price increase in Q4 2024, driven by strong demand and balanced supply conditions. Japan, in particular, experienced steady market growth, supported by stable supply chains, domestic production, and strategic imports. The automotive sector, particularly new energy vehicle exports, and increased electronics demand further bolstered the market.
Rising electricity prices, influenced by higher fuel costs, added production pressures, indirectly pushing copper plate prices higher. However, robust export activity—especially in semiconductor equipment and non-ferrous metals—helped stabilize prices. By quarter-end, copper plate prices in Japan reached USD 13,002/MT Ex Osaka, highlighting market resilience amid evolving challenges.
